Juniors (7-17 years)
We have a thriving junior section for children of primary and secondary school ages.
All abilities from the age of 7-years-old are welcome to come along and learn some hockey skills with MHHC. The first session is free of charge.
During the season (September to Easter), we train every week on the new all-weather pitch at Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough. With additional junior Summer hockey training running from Easter to May half-term.

Junior hockey training takes place on Wednesdays at 17:30 – 19:00, on the new all-weather pitch at Robert Smyth Academy in Market Harborough. Our training is specifically designed for different age-groups, concentrating on developing the skills required to play and enjoy our fabulous game.
At Robert Smyth Academy there is ample parking and sticks are provided if you don’t have your own. You just need trainers with good grip, shin-pads and mouthguards.
There is no charge for the first training session, to allow players to decide if they wish to continue, and discounts are available for multiple family members.

Winter Junior Training – from September to Easter
There is no junior training during the Leicestershire school holidays.

U16s and U18s join the seniors for training. Senior training is open to all aged 13-years-old and above.

For juniors and teenagers, eight months of winter training (September to Easter) is included with Full junior and concessionary membership for only £18 per month. Junior non-members are charged £8 per session.
Competitive Matches
There is the opportunity for all youngsters to play in local tournaments on Sundays throughout the season; depending on the age range each season we can field teams of under 8s, under 10s, under 12s, under 14s, under 16s and under 18s. Players are not charged to play in U8–U12s Sunday tournaments.
For older children there is the chance to play regularly for the Badgers team. Junior players are eligible to play in adult League matches from the age of 13, most hockey teams have a number of U18s playing alongside senior members, with often families members playing together!
Badgers
The MHHC Badgers play on Saturdays in the Northamptonshire Two Counties Badgers League. The Badgers League is a good introduction to full sized hockey, and is competitive and friendly. Badgers teams are made up of nine juniors and two supporting adults playing 11-a-side on a full size pitch. Junior players must be under 16-years-old, most are aged between 13- and 16-years-old but some as young as 11-years-old have been part of the squad.
Our Badgers team have lots of fun, playing hockey in a supportive and friendly environment. In 2017/18 the MHHC Badgers team was very successful and finished the season top of their league!
Club Training and Membership Fees
U8s, U10s & U12s (school years 2-7):
Full Junior membership costs £18 per month (£108 per season) and includes training from September to Easter, and discounted match fees. The Full Junior membership fees are split over 6 monthly instalments.
Alternatively you can pay-as-you-go with a Casual Junior membership where training costs £8 per session.
U14s, U16s & Badgers (school year 8 and above):
Full Concession membership costs £18 per month (£108 per season) and includes training from September to Easter, and discounted match fees. The Full Junior membership fees are split over 6 monthly instalments.
Alternatively you can pay-as-you-go with a Casual Concession membership where training costs £8 per session.
Match fees are £6 per game for Full Concession and £3 per game for Full Junior members, or £9 per game for Casual Concession and £6 per game for Casual Junior members. Junior tournaments are free of charge.
