Wins for the Men’s teams….

Men’s 1 won 3-2 at home to Melton
Goals: Jordan Allen (2) & Sam Bryant

“More drama than in Eastenders” was the quote of the day after this electrifying match between Harborough and Melton.

It began with a twenty minute stalemate that was finally broken by a brace of quick-fire goals from feisty forward Jordan Allen. Shortly into the second half one of Harborough’s mighty defenders was sent off leaving the team of 10 to dig deep to keep their lead. The opposition pulled the game back to a draw with goals in the 26th and 33rd minutes. Harborough stepped up for the final push, winning a short corner in the last seconds of the match that Sam Bryant swiftly converted.

Men’s 2 won 4-1 away to Leicester City 1
Goals: Ben Sleeman (4)
Player of the Match: Ben Sleeman

The 2s travelled to the as yet unbeaten Leicester City 1s. Harborough started brightly and an early chance saw Ben Sleeman convert on the reserve stick. Leicester had a couple of short corners that were defended well, with goal line saves by firstly Matti Hodgson and then Lee Gaterell, both deflecting the ball over the crossbar.

The rest of the first half saw good pressure from Harborough but the team was unable to convert. The defensive effort thwarted the opposition with Harborough’s defensive trio, and Lee Gaterell in the goal with some fine saves. Jack Batkin received a green card.

The start of the second half continued with Harborough dominating the midfield and taking control. A couple of short corners, two of which Ben Sleeman converted, gave Harborough a 3-0 lead.

Leicester were able to pull one goal back in a rare period of time with the ball. However, Harborough got back with the midfield quintet running Leicester ragged across the pitch several times. A second green card was given to Harborough with Elliot Roper on the receiving end.

The home team became more and more frustrated, allowing Ben Sleeman to convert again, at which point Leicester were reduced to ten for dissent. Ben Sleeman was given Player of the Match for his 4 goals.

Men’s 3 won 4-1 at home to Rugby & East Warwickshire 7
Goals: Noel Burton (2) & Cameron Smith (2)

A great game today by Men’s 3rds with a 4-1 Win.

Really nice passing play in the first half saw us take a 3-0 lead with goals from Noel Burton and 2 from Cameron Smith.

A bit of a slower 2nd half, but we always looked the stronger team. Towards the end of the game we let Rugby break and score, but Noel Burton returned the lead to 3 with a late goal.

A great result and keeps the 3rds on track to win promotion and the league with 3 games to go.

Women’s 1 lost 1-7 at home to Warwick 1

Player of the Match: Vicky Christodoulou

Badgers lost 1-3 away to Long Buckby
